SUPPLEMENT TO HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT

NOTE: Airport is day use only.  Your request for authorization to fly into and out of Mogollon Airpark will be granted once you complete and submit the “Hold Harmless Agreement” and this Supplement.

Location and Coordinates:

Mogollon Airpark is a private airport.  The airport has a 3436’ runway, parallel taxiways, and two tie-down areas.  Mogollon Airpark (AZ82) is published on the Phoenix Sectional Chart and located on the Winslow (INW) 147 degree radial at 42 DME. GPS coordinates are 34 23.50 N, 110 31.45 W.  The airport elevation is 6658’.

All traffic patterns are to east of the airport.  The traffic pattern is left hand for runway 21 and is right hand for runway 03.  Runway 21 is the preferred low/no wind runway. Please minimize flying over the town.  Departing aircraft from both runways should continue straight out until beyond any houses.  Runway 03 departures to the southwest should use a right traffic pattern for departure and remain east of the runway until 1000’ AGL or higher altitude.

CAUTION: There is a 2% UP slope for the first 2100’ and a 4% down slope for the last 1000’ of Runway 21. There are tall pines on each end of the runway.  When the wind velocity is high, strong wind shear and moderate turbulence can be encountered on final approach.  Wind socks are located on the west side of the runway about midfield and near the touchdown areas for both ends of the runway.  A wind tetrahedron is located approximately midfield on the west side of the runway. The clearway for the runway is 120’ from the centerline.

The Lodge is on the east side of the runway approximately at the departure end of Runway 21.  Tie down areas are available adjacent to and southwest of the Lodge and on the west mid-field in view of the “hump” in the runway.

Communications:

A two-way radio is strongly recommended.  Use frequency 122.90 to provide traffic advisories when in the vicinity of the airport. The proper call sign is “Mogollon Traffic.”  Announce your intentions and call when five miles out, entering downwind, turning base, on final, and clearing the runway after landing.  A visual alignment of elements is in place to assist your landing on Runway 21.  Consult the Airmen’s Information Manual for information and use of this system.  When departing Mogollon follow the communication procedure described in the pre take-off taxi procedure below.

An AWOS is available on 122.90. 3 mike clicks will give AWOS winds and altimeter setting. 4 mike clicks provide for a radio check feature. Click mike 4 times, wait for the radio check announcement, you then have a 10 second time frame to announce a radio check or intentions. It is suggested to make a radio check prior to taxing the aircraft.

Take Off and Landing:

CAUTION:  Pilots, vehicles, and pedestrians should be aware that it is not possible to see from one end of the runway to the other and direct radio communications from one end to the other may not be heard. Visibility from take off positions to midfield may also be restricted. Prior to take off, pilots should take extra precaution to assure there are no other aircraft, vehicles, pedestrians, or animals on the runway. Two suggested methods for doing so are: (1) Taxi to midfield  prior to takeoff to visually clear the runway, and (2) Use the AWOS radio check feature (see above) just prior to departure to announce intentions.”

For arriving aircraft, a complete traffic pattern entry as defined in the AIM is suggested to be flown by all arriving aircraft. “Elk clearing runs” are NOT recommended, but if flown, should be in the direction of the active runway. Visually check both ends of the runway for aircraft.

Density altitude at Mogollon Airpark in the summer is frequently in excess of 10,000’.  Consult the Pilots Operating Handbook for your aircraft to ensure your aircraft performance at such density altitude will provide the margin of safety you must have.  If performance is calculated to be marginal, wait until more favorable wind and temperature conditions exist prior to departure.

The above information and procedures are suggested only. Aircraft operational safety decisions are the sole responsibility of the pilot in command.

Mogollon Airpark will not be responsible for any damage whatsoever for any reason to your aircraft or for injury to anyone on board. Your authorization to land at the Airpark has been granted based on your assumption of the entire responsibility and consequences of such use.  If you are not willing to assume this responsibility, permission for landing will not be granted.
